The Fallyn Trap
Fallyn started out as a project to combat the thousands of long-tailed silverfish in our own house. The unique design turned out to be effective not only on silverfish – many different insect species crawl on Fallyn and get trapped inside.
Attraction
The trap can hold a liquid lure that attracts silverfish and many other insects, particularly those that are attracted to general food sources and dead insects. Once they fall or fly into the trap they die quickly as they come into contact with the vegetable oil in the lure.
High capacity
Designed for small, crawling insects, it is a high capacity trap that can hold hundreds of silverfish, bed bugs, ants and similarly sized insects. The lure stays effective for years, but may need replacement if the trap is filled with insects that absorb the oil, which may happen after caching 100+ grown long-tailed silverfish. When the lure needs replacement, simply discard the saucer holding the lure and replace with a new saucer and lure.
Reusable and reliable monitoring tool
Built to be robust and reusable, the trap itself has a typical service life of several years.
- Not easily filled with dust and sand.
- Withstands moisture and up to 2 cm of water on a flooded floor.
- Solid design helps prevent the trap from being discarded as an unwanted object.

The trap is especially well suited for:

- Vegans who don’t want to kill the insects (use without lure)
With lure, this trap is not suited for identification of species. Immersion in lure makes it hard to discern similar looking species and small arthropods. However, lure makes it excellent for identifying the distribution of long-tailed silverfish in a building and locating their hot spots. It may also increase the catch of other insects and arthropods.
